Its been busy since my last blog. Vita Liberata has tanned nearly everyone in London (or at least it feels like it!) The city is glowing with healthy golden skin!
No seriously, today we tanned the beautiful Michelle Rodriguez from Avatar. Gorgeous skin made even more gorgeous by the Vita Liberata hawaii spray tan.
For the last month we have been tanning the contestants at the x factor. You have probably watched the video of Olly Murs on you tube?! It has been the best fun. Really brightens up my Fridays. They are such lovely lovely people. I would have thought that a production of that scale would be full of stressed out, manic individuals, but on the contrary, everyone is so calm and relaxed it is a total pleasure to be there.
And now there are only 3 left. Thankfully Joe survived the ligging around last Friday. At one point he was hanging upside down on an empty clothes rail, with olly threatening to roll him through the double doors. Just for a laugh you understand!!. Boys will be boys and all that!
What I find most amazing is that they really have no concept of just how famous they have become. I mean, they know that they get papped when they go outside etc, but they still really don’t have a feel for how life will be on the other side of the x factor railings.
The most touching thing is how supportive they are of each other. Its almost like the competition part of things is so secondary that they all forget about it till Friday, and then they all worry about each other more than themselves. Quite extraordinary. I think that Danyl’s very gracious words when he departed last sunday, really were from the heart. I also think his singing career is far from over!
So now it is the final week of x factor, and the last time we will be getting the guys naked. Shame. Helena, our celebrity tanner, was really enjoying tanning Olly and Joe! And I think they have been really enjoying getting tanned by Vita Liberata!! to see us on you tube just click straight through from the home page.

X Factor

It took quite a long time to get from Belfast to the X factor studios in Wembley. About 6 hours in total, and a plane, a train, a tube, a train and a taxi. But boy was it worth it when I got there.! We were there to give everyone but the Twins a lovely natural odorless (of course) tan. We set up in their little green room, and were basically there to tan anyone who wanted (except the twins of course!). The guys are just lovely, and having properly met them all now I will be even more devastated than usual when someone leaves tonight. Joe Mcelderry is just so talented. He sings endlessly in the corridors with a range that must be almost 4 octaves. And always in perfect pitch. He just loved his tan – total transformation. As for Lloyd Daniels, even Simon Cowell said he looked great this week. and its true. He did. The tan made his eyes brighter, his teeth whiter. He really did suddenly grow up and look quite sexy even, in a kind of surfer popstar way. Ollie is such a gentle young man. He wouldn’t take his bracelets off cos he has been wearing them since the start of the competition, so he ended up with tan lines!! yikes!! Holly Willoughby noticed on the xtra factor last night. But anyway, I guess if he had got the tan on holidays it would have been exactly the same. Just added to the reality of it all. Danyl was really sweet, very smart and intelligent and not at all cocky – i just don’t know where that has come from. Honestly. He even sang a song for my daughter Caitlyn on my mobile – she fainted with excitement when she saw it!!. And then of course the wonderful Stacey. Such a lovely, beautiful, funny kind girl. She wanted to be really dark. So we sprayed twice with Hawaii, because I could she had good olive undertones that would tan quite dark anyway. I think she would have tanned twice with Brazil if we had let her!! But didnt she look fabulous? So warm and sexy and grown up. A real star. And I was so delighted with those long bronzed legs. Meanwhile I wonder if John and edward will be looking for a tna again this week when we’re over. I think they would look really good if they were warmed up a bit. don’t you?

Fashion TV

Posted by Alyson in Sep 10, 2009, under Uncategorized

well my goodness!. we have been asked to tan up the models for one of the swimwear shows at London fashion week!. How exciting is that. So of course there was mayhem in the office this afternoon. Much squealing, and giggling to start. Then some serious logistics to get sorted. How many girls, what shade of tan, how many spray tan technicians, how much time etc etc. Flights, tubes, hotels. How skinny will the models be? How huge will we all feel as a result? How glad are we that tan makes you look thinner.

some people!!

honestly, everyone is trying to get their hands on our new spray tan, and they are prepared to do it by fair means or foul it would seem!

there have been all kinds of incidents. One salon had product sent to an address several miles from their actual establishment, because they were concerned that we might not let them take it in as they were within half a mile of the next salon!. Now I am flattered at the effort, but really, do you think we could deny anyone our tan perfection? I think not!! Every woman who wants to be bronzed and beautiful really does need to get Rich. Honestly! Having the product sent to another address!! We are talking tans here, not education!

Tan Your Man

Posted by Alyson in Jul 07, 2009, under Uncategorized

We had the best time ever spray tanning the greatest group of sports men in the country the other week in Liffey Valley. They were such good fun. We had Avril Kelly from RTE’s the cafe, and even Mark Pollock the famous adventure sports man just back from the South Pole – with frost bite scars to prove it!  Every guy donated his body for stripping (by Avril) and tanning (by the girls from Midas Touch, and Rich Silken Chocolate spray tan) to raise awareness of skin cancer and raise money for Cancer Research. We also had the fabulous Long John Jump Band to entertain the crowds, and boy it was a great day. Thanks to everyone.  You were all brilliant!! Check it out on You Tube. Under Tan Your Man or Vita Liberata.

Meeting the Cast of Hollyoaks

Posted by Alyson in Jul 07, 2009, under Uncategorized

Well it was very very exciting. There I was rubbing shoulders with BB exs, and Hollyoaks stars at the opening of the new Lipsy store in Liverpool. Gave them some products, which they love – of course!- so all good. Then went straight down to London and spray tanned journalists all afternoon in the blinding heat. They were thrilled,  but we were dripping by the end of it. Hasn’t the heat been intense?   Got back home for 2 cooling days on the beautiful Strangford Lough, and then off to Barcelona to shoot a TV ad for Rich Silken choclate. It was 38 degrees. Now I love Barcelona, but even my adoration of the place couldn’t stop me melting as I sat in the shade!. Thank goodness, and I mean this, that I had my own Rich with me, cos I would have come home white as a sheet if I had been depending on the Sun. It was just too too hot. Having said that it was a good excuse to have some lovely lunches in the shade – which is always an upside. Now we are back to cloudy Belfast and I have the Uggs back on my feet. Oh well! Sure wouldn’t we be bored if all we did was chill in the shade and watch the world go by?? don’t think so!!

my first blog comment!

Posted by Alyson in Jan 12, 2009, under Uncategorized

Thank you Barbara. It means so much to have someone notice and comment when they enjoy the products. I tried to reply, but I’m so un techy that I couldn’t make a reply up load on my own blog!. anyway, perhaps I should really stick to what I do best. we are such a small, family run, company, that every customer – every single one of you, is truly important to us. there have many of you have already re-ordered  and as we have watched them come in we have squealed with delight at those who have ordered twice – or sometimes even more than that!

Thank you all so much for your support. Business can be a very hard task master, as you will know from the news, and of course we have not been immune to the vagaries of currency, interest rates tough retail conditions and the like, but comments like yours Barbara make all the difference.

cheers

The highlight of Christmas.

Posted by Alyson in Jan 03, 2009, under Uncategorized

It seems too soon to get back to work. I hardly feel that I’ve stopped. Had that dreadful dreadful flu. Two weeks so far and not gone yet.

So the highlight of Christmas? Boxing Day! We literally didn’t  move. Got hooked into a documentary about Cecil B De Mille and then snoozed our way through 4 hours of the Ten Commandments. My kids could only manage short sections without cringing at the actors, the makeup, the set and the effects. But I didn’t care. It brought me back to my childhood. Sunday afternoons in front of the fire, in our tiny ‘TV’ room. I think that terminology was a peculiarly 60′s thing in Dungiven (yes, I do come from the same village as Eioghan!) when TV’s were new and exciting things and the era of colour was still a great wonderment to us all. And now I’m waiting for a re run of Joan Of Arc with Ingrid Bergman. I wonder how bad the effects are on that one. I hope the acting is still as good as I remember from when I was six. Was it is Back and White? I just remember it as being phenomenal. Made me want to be an actress. And a heroine!

Yes, boxing day was the highlight of Christmas.
